Lasallians Join the #MillionPeopleMarch

Lasallians from all over Luzon gathered in Rizal Park in unity with other Filipinos to express disgust towards the blatant misuse and abuse of public funds.

Last 26 August, over 1,000 Lasallians joined the Million People March in Rizal Park, a mass action against the misuse of public funds particularly the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allotted to Philippine lawmakers. DLSP President, Br. Jose Mari “JJ” Jimenez FSC, urged Lasallians to “participate in the efforts to ensure that our government will be transparent, accountable, honest, and principled in the use of our nation’s resources.”

Lasallians from Bacolod likewise showed their support by joining the mass action against PDAF in Bacolod City.

Lasallian educators held teach-in sessions to discuss the nature, use and potential misuse of PDAF.

The Lasallian Justice & Peace Commission (LJPC) used this opportunity to hold teach-in sessions to help educate participants on the nature and use of the PDAF. The discussions have helped the participants to come up with their individual stand. Some of the materials on the PDAF are available on the DLSP website

In his closing message during the gathering, Br. JJ thanked all those who participated and asked them to “continue to fight for our right to a government that is honest, transparent & accountable.”
