God Made a Teacher

Lasallian Stories

In November of 1691, De La Salle found himself and his group of teachers in a dire situation. At that time, he and the Brothers had established several schools that provided a Christian education to all children without regard to social class or income.

The books are important, and so are the pencils, the blackboards, and the chairs, but if there are no teachers, who will bear the weight and responsibility of educating the next generation?

Dear Lasallians,

At the heart of our Lasallian mission is the person of the teacher. Whatever our children come to learn about themselves, about the world and about God, pass through their relationship with this person.

This year, I invite you once again to renew our collaboration in the mission by supporting our teachers in our Lasallian schools in St. Joseph School-La Salle in Bacolod City; De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College in Toledo City, Cebu; and De La Salle John Bosco College in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur. I hope that we can continue to witness to the importance of education by assisting our teachers in their professional and spiritual formation.

I ask you to help us create this environment where the education and formation of young people in the Christian spirit continue to be priorities. Let us do this by ensuring that our teachers are given the support for training and improvement so that they can communicate well to those entrusted to them the Good News that God is good.

Fraternally,

Br. Jose Mari Jimenez FSC

President, De La Salle Philippines
